It doesn’t matter if your video doesn’t work for other groups or other personas. Once you have a sense of your audience, you need to create content that matches your persona. Jeremy Vest, Director of Marketing for vidIQ, suggests that listening is critical because “if you don’t listen to your audience then…you’re not going to serve them very well.” However, it’s not all about just seeking what the viewer wants. YouTube Marketing Consultant Owen Video says, “The very first thing we do is run our clients through a questionnaire that helps them to get the biggest topics that the audience would be interested in.” Here’s advice from YouTube experts who have learned (from a lot of practice and work) what you need to define your audience. ![]() Experts’ TakeĪs you start looking at what your audience wants and needs, there are some things you can do to help you narrow your focus. The answers to these questions will guide you as you plan out and create your video. If you can’t answer these basic questions you need to dig deeper. Knowing general information is helpful, but think about your specific audience. Knowing your audience will guide nearly every decision you make about your video. Find your perfect audience for YouTubeīefore you start working on your first script or storyboard, you must answer this question: If you show up to YouTube looking to get something out of it, you probably won’t be very successful. You can be charismatic, funny, and smart - but if you don’t provide value, your videos are useless. It has very little with you as the creator. Create a YouTube Video Strategy Choose the right topic (for the right audience) Learn the first YouTube video you should make Understand YouTube equipment for beginners Here’s everything, step-by-step, that you need to make a successful YouTube video: In the meantime, I will use Shotcut, coupled with something like OBS for the occasions I need screen recording (because Shotcut does not do screen recording).Download Camtasia to quickly and easily make your own YouTube videos. I, too, think Camtasia is too expensive, but I really like it for a number of reasons, and might end up buying it. There are quite a few other free pieces of video editing software, but most of them have some kind of disadvantage in comparison to Shotcut (e.g., a larger footprint not as feature rich having to register at a website in order to download the software). I am suggesting Shotcut as an alternative because it has a pretty small footprint, and is continually being updated, and has a very helpful user forum (the reddit is pretty helpful, too). It is completely free (although in the Microsoft store it is something like USD $12, so avoid downloading it there).ĭaVinci Resolve is brilliant, but one of the few 'features' missing from the free version (which is 97% like the paid version) is the ability to export/render to H.265 and H.264, which are the common amateur video codecs, so that is a real disadvantage. If you do not want to use Camtasia because of the price, have a look at Shotcut. Therefore - my question indirectly is: Is Camtasia Studio still relevant and worth it in 2022? I am not planning on using CS for my whole life. Honestly, I think this is a ridiculous price to ask - I pay for plenty of software and I don't mind at all, as long as it's a monthly subscription. The only drawback is that if you want to use CS legally, your only option is to pay $350 as a one-time payment. I've been messing around with it past week (using the trial) and it seems I remember most things and am pretty comfortable to use it. It was pretty straight-forward and I think everyone can learn it. I remember I liked CS a lot because of its simplicity and user-friendliness. Serious question - I've used Camtasia Studio around a couple years ago and got pretty proficient with it (using the 'no-wifi' workaround to get it for free) - but since then I've never needed a video editing software, until now. ![]()
